Located in the high desert on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California, Mono Lake is one of the most amazing lakes in the USA. This incredible lake is a large saline water lake about eight thousand feet above the sea level. Mono Lake is the oldest lake in North America. It was formed at least 700,000 years ago. It is a beautiful lake with magical limestone towers on the surface.
This incredible lake was formed as a terminal lake in a basin that has no outlet to the ocean. The lack of an outlet means water entering the lake from Eastern Sierra streams leaves only through evaporation. This, in turn, results in high concentrations of salts and minerals being left behind in the lake.
The most prominent feature of this lake is its incredible tufa towers emerging from the surface of the lake. The tufa towers are limestone towers and occur naturally in the Mono Lake. These limestone towers form from the reaction when underwater springs (rich in calcium) mix with the waters of the lake (rich in carbonates).

Thor's Well is a salt water fountain driven by the power of the ocean tide located in Cape Perpetua (a typical Pacific Northwest headland), Oregon. It is basically a deep hole in the rocks off a rough stretch of the Oregon coastline in the USA. As the waves crash in, it fills up, spouts water 20 feet in the air and overflows, before sucking the water back in and out to sea.
It is a pretty dramatic place to visit. This natural spectacle is at its best when it is the most dangerous to watch. Thor's Well is best seen approximately an hour before high tide to an hour after high tide.

Havasu Falls is an amazing waterfall located within the Havasupai Indian Reservation in Grand Canyon National Park. This picturesque waterfall is a hidden gem of the great Grand Canyon. Havasu Falls is possibly the most famous and most visited of all the falls on Havasu Creek. The configuration of the falls is ever-changing and sometimes breaks into two separate chutes of water due to the high mineral content of the water.
The main chute of water drops about 100 feet (30 meter) over a vertical cliff into a large pool of blue-green water. The vibrant blue water contrasts against the striking red rocks of the canyon walls as Havasu Falls plunges into a wide pool of blue-green waters. Havasu Falls is well known throughout the world for the natural pools created by mineralization. Calcium carbonate and magnesium occur naturally in the waters of Havasu Creek. High calcium carbonate concentration in the water creates the vivid blue-green color and forms the natural travertine dams that occur in various places near the falls. And since the creek originates from a spring, the water rarely deviates from 21.1 C year round.
Havasu Falls can be reached in different ways including a 16 kilometer hike that starts at Hualapai Hilltop. Guided tours are also available from the local Havasupai tribe. You'll also find overnight lodges and camping grounds nearby.

Located about 100 kilometers southeast of Seattle, in the United States, Christine Falls is an amazing waterfall. Christine falls has two waterfalls - a 32 feet (9.8 meters) high upper drop and a 37 foot (11 meters) high lower drop. The two drops make a total height of 69 feet (21 meters). Interestingly, there is a bridge between the two drops. Christine Falls is possibly best known for the bridge spanning above the lower drop.
However, the bridge makes it almost impossible to photograph the two falls together. For this reason, the lower drop is more popular and more photographed. It is probably one of the most commonly photographed locations in the Mount Rainier area. The falls was named in honor of Christine Van Trump, the daughter of P. B. Van Trump, who accompanied her father on an ascent of Mount Rainier in 1889, at an age of just nine.

The Crazy Horse Memorial is a huge mountain monument complex in the Black Hills, in South Dakota, United States. It is an immense statue honoring the Lakota leader Crazy Horse and is under construction. The monument is being carved out of Thunderhead Mountain in the Black Hills. The Crazy Horse Memorial depicts Crazy Horse riding a horse and pointing into the distance. Once completed, it may become the world's largest sculpture.
The monument has been in progress since 1948 and is far from completion. The sculpture's final dimensions are planned to be 641 feet (195 meters) wide and 563 feet (172 meters) high. The head of Crazy Horse will be 87 feet (27 meters) high. The original sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski passed away in 1982, but his family remain heavily involved in the completion of the monument. The Crazy Horse Memorial is supposed to become the world's largest sculpture as well as the first non-religious statue to hold this record since 1967.
The largest monument in the world at the moment is the Spring Temple Buddha in China, which is 420 feet tall. However, once the Crazy Horse Memorial is completed, it will dwarf this by 140 feet. The Crazy Horse Memorial consists of the mountain carving, the Indian Museum of North America, and the Native American Cultural Center. It is operated by the Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation, a private non-profit organization.
